There are but a few short weeks until the fantasy football playoffs begin. Whether you're already in contention for one of your league's postseason berths or scrambling to make up ground and sneak your way in, there's always room for roster improvement. Hence, the waiver wire—a source of both real gold and fool's gold. Those who excel in fantasy football are often those the most adept at seeing the difference, but that becomes a much harder task for fantasy GMs tasked with battling it out in deeper leagues.
Leagues with 14-, 16-, 18- or more teams simply have less to work with on the wire, but it doesn't mean there aren't good roster additions to be found, even at this late point in the season.
