In preparation for NFL Week 9, here are the updated PFF power rankings. This week, the rankings are presented alongside an interesting piece of information about how players have performed over the last four weeks of the season (Weeks 5 through 8).
1. New England Patriots
Tom Brady has been the most accurate quarterback in Weeks 5 through 8, with an accuracy percentage of 81.4. He only has the eighth-highest completion percentage at 66.0, but 15 of his passes have been dropped, which leads the league.
2. Carolina Panthers
The tight end with the most yards per route run in Weeks 5 through 8 is Greg Olsen, with 2.86. He has 275 yards on 96 routes.
3. Cincinnati Bengals
The two offensive tackles with 110 or more pass blocks and the best pass blocking efficiencies are Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith, at 98.8 and 98.1, respectively. Neither player has allowed a sack or hit.
4. Denver Broncos
When Aqib Talib has been thrown at, opposing quarterbacks have an NFL passer rating of 31.7, second-lowest in the league in Weeks 5 through 8. Chris Harris Jr. isn’t far behind at 47.4, which is sixth-best.
5. Arizona Cardinals
The leader in yards per route run (Weeks 5 through 8) is John Brown, at 3.80. He has 334 yards on 88 routes.
6. Atlanta Falcons
Over the last two weeks, Jalen Collins been exceptional in the Falcons' nickel defense. In those 60 coverage snaps, he has been thrown at three times and has not allowed a catch.
7. Green Bay Packers
The Packers' 3-4 defensive ends at the back of the depth chart have found success the past four weeks. Datone Jones has a pass rushing productivity of 11.7, sixth-best for 3-4 defensive ends, while Mike Pennel has a run stop percentage of 14.3 percent, seventh-best at the position.
8. Minnesota Vikings
No kicker has made more field goals in the past four weeks than Blair Walsh (11). He has been perfect over his last three games.
9. Oakland Raiders
The center with the best pass blocking efficiency is Rodney Hudson, at 99.3. On 112 pass blocks in the past four weeks, the only pressure he’s allowed is a single hit.
10. Pittsburgh Steelers
Since returning from suspension, Martavis Bryant has a yards per route run of 2.75, seventh-best among wide receivers. In 2014, his yards per route run was also 2.75.
11. Seattle Seahawks
The only tight end with more than 14 catches and no drops is Jimmy Graham. Graham has 20 catches over the last four games.
12. Philadelphia Eagles
The safety with the second-highest overall grade is Malcolm Jenkins. His coverage grade is second-best, and run defense grade, 15th-best.
13. New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees leads the league in deep passing attempts at 24, completions at 14, and yards at 431, through the past four weeks.
14. St. Louis Rams
The Rams have three of the top five defensive tackles in terms of run stop percentage in Weeks 5 through 8. Michael Brockers is third at 13.2 percent, Aaron Donald fourth at 13.0 percent, and Nick Fairley fifth at 12.9 percent.
15. Buffalo Bills
Cornerback Ronald Darby has the highest run stop percentage for cornerbacks the past four weeks, at 5.6. He has four run stops on 71 run snaps.
16. Baltimore Ravens
Kicker Justin Tucker has had the highest amount of his kickoffs touched back in Weeks 5 through 8, at 95.5 percent. 20 of his 22 kickoffs have been touched back.
17. Kansas City Chiefs
Outside linebacker Tamba Hali has 26 pressures on 123 pass rushes, which is the most pressures by a 3-4 outside linebacker in Weeks 5 through 8. Only one other 3-4 outside linebacker has more than 18.
18. New York Jets
Damon Harrison has a run stop percentage of 16.2, second-best for defensive/nose tackles. He led all defensive/nose tackles over the 2014 regular season at 12.5 percent, and was second-best in 2013, at 13.2 percent.
19. Dallas Cowboys
The safety with the best run stop percentage is Barry Church at 11.9. He has seven run stops on 59 run snaps the past four weeks.
20. Miami Dolphins
When Jarvis Landry has been targeted the past four weeks, Ryan Tannehill has an NFL QB rating of 153.9, the best in the league. He has 14 catches on 17 targets for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
21. New York Giants
Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has 152 yards after the catch, which is second-most among receivers the past four weeks.
22. Houston Texans
Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has caught 35 passes in the past four weeks, most in the league, and doesn’t have a single drop, giving him the best drop rate in the league in that span, as well.
23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The running back with the most yards per route run in Weeks 5 through 8 is Charles Sims, at 3.50. He has 126 yards on just 36 routes run.
24. Indianapolis Colts
The only wide receiver with more than 200 deep receiving yards the past four weeks is T.Y. Hilton at 203. He did that on just four catches, and two of them went for touchdowns.
25. Cleveland Browns
The offensive tackle with the best pass block rating in Weeks 5 through 8 is Joe Thomas at +9.4. The next best for an offensive tackle is +6.1.
26. Washington
The safety with the most run stops is Dashon Goldson, at nine. Only two other safeties have more than five in the past four weeks.
27. Jacksonville Jaguars
The leader in elusive rating (Weeks 5 through 8) is T.J. Yeldon, at 109.9. He has 3.39 yards after contact per attempt, and 12 players have missed tackles on his 37 touches.
28. Chicago Bears
The 3-4 outside linebacker with the best pass rushing productivity over the past four weeks is Pernell McPhee at 17.4. He has three sacks, two hits, and 13 hurries on 100 pass rushes.
29. Tennessee Titans
The inside linebacker with the best run stop percentage is Wesley Woodyard at 20.2. He has 17 run stops on 84 run snaps. Those 17 run stops are three more than any other inside linebacker in Weeks 5 through 8.
30. San Diego Chargers
Danny Woodhead leads all running backs in catches at 23, yards at 240, yards after the catch at 267, and touchdowns, at two, over the span of the past four weeks.
31. Detroit Lions
The 4-3 defensive end with the best pass rushing productivity is Ezekiel Ansah at 18.5. He has 22 pressures on 92 pass rushes over these last four weeks.
32. San Francisco 49ers
The receiver with the most yards per route run in the slot is Anquan Boldin at 3.60. He has 191 yards in the slot over the last four weeks, which also leads the league, on 12 catches.
