New RB Lamar Miller a great fit in Houston's offense

The deal: Houston Texans sign running back Lamar Miller to four-year, $26 million deal, with $14 million guaranteed

Grade: A-

What it means for the Texans: With the Texans moving on from Arian Foster, they went outside the team to pick up their new feature back in Lamar Miller. Miller has been productive in limited playing time with Miami, and has ranked among the top six HB’s in rush grade over the last two years. Miller will fit well in Houston’s zone-heavy run schemes and is an upgrade over Alfred Blue. He has also been healthy for the duration of his career and has relatively low mileage thus far.

What it means for the Dolphins: Frankly, Miami under-utilized Miller every year. He was given 20-plus carries just twice in four years with the Dolphins, and had fewer than 10 rush attempts in six games in 2015. But he was effective behind one of the worst run-blocking offensive lines and they will miss him. Miami has last year’s fifth-round pick Jay Ajayi who stands to be their lead back as of now. Ajayi missed the first half of the season, but did a decent job in limited playing time down the stretch. His 78.3 rush grade was the 20th-best in the league. The Dolphins still need to find another solid back.
