Lions: Suh’s availability bad news for Cowboys

PFF-headlinesAfter initially suspending Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamokung Suh for stepping on Aaron Rodgers, the NFL later reduced the penalty to a fine. Lions fans should feel relieved as Suh is crucial to Detroit’s ability to disrupt a stout Cowboys offensive line.

Suh earned an overall grade of +27.5 in the regular season, the third-best among defensive tackles. Suh's work against the run was impressive, his +18.1 run defense grade was the second-best mark for the position. He was fourth among all defensive tackles with 26 defensive stops against the run, which gave him a very respectable 9.7 Run Stop Percentage.

Of course Suh is equally disruptive in the passing game. His +14.8 pass rushing grade was the seventh-highest recorded by a defensive tackle this season. While his five sacks and 57 total pressures give him an 8.4 Pass Rushing Productivity, seventh-best out of 72 qualifying tackles.

In his last game against Dallas in 2013, Suh registered one quarterback hit and four quarterback hurries. He is expected to play a key role on Sunday once again, as the Lions face-off against DeMarco Murray, the league's leading rusher.
