Everyone is excited for the start of the season, but it is also a stressful time for fantasy owners. There is not hot streak to ride, no cold streak to avoid. Your starting lineup will almost surely be based on draft position. In this first week I try and help you with some decisions you could be struggling with.

Devin Funchess vs. Demetrius McCray

Funchess has had a lot of fantasy buzz around him since WR Kelvin Benjamin went down with a season ending injury. While he is not officially listed as a starter, most believe Funchess will lead this team in targets. Benjamin was very successful as a rookie, which could be making Funchess overrated. Funchess is very talented, but is also very raw.

I’m not sure if anyone has beat the drum harder than me in regards to McCray. He quietly had a great year that was hidden playing for the Jaguars. McCray started the last 12 games for the Jaguars and didn’t allow a touchdown or more than 58 yards during that stretch. McCray held his own against some of the better quarterbacks in the league. Ryan Tannehill, Andrew Luck, Eli Manning, Tony Romo, Andy Dalton and Ben Roethlisberger combined for 94 yards on 10 of 27 passing while targeting McCray.

Bottom Line: Funchess may end up having a productive rookie season, but that's unlikely to start in his first game against the solid McCray. Stay away from this matchup if at all possible.
