IDP Waiver Wire - Week 14
Every Tuesday I’ll be giving you the lowdown on which individual defensive players (IDP) to target for the upcoming week’s waiver wire, so without further ado here is this week’s under the radar prospects.
For most leagues this is the start of the fantasy playoffs, so more than ever it’s important to make waiver moves not only to solidify your own roster, but to prevent your rivals from strengthening themselves. Act quickly, and act decisively.
Ziggy Ansah, Detroit Lions 1 – 2% of FAAB
Ansah has found himself in and out of favour with IDP gamers during the season. From his high profile entrance into the NFL and the expectations that come with being a fifth overall draft pick, to the steep learning curve that accompanies a Ghana-born athlete with just nine college starts adjusting to the pro game, there have been ups and downs. By Week 2 Ansah had won a starting job and was playing 50-plus snaps a game, and although a two sacks and seven tackle game the following week showed his fantasy potential he would only register a further half a sack in the next seven weeks (he missed two games due to injury). In the last two weeks since his return from an ankle injury however, Ansah has notched up two sacks in both games, reigniting interest from fantasy owners who had cut him loose. If you’re the gambling type, especially in big play leagues, Ansah is a very interesting addition this week, however he’s only surpassed three total tackles in a game once, so you’re at the mercy of his big-play production.
