This week’s IDP Snap Report looks at a number of players in the front seven who have missed time for one reason or another, and how it has impacted the players around them. For some teams, players played so well in their new role that once the injured player is back, things might not return to normal.
Carolina Panthers Defensive End
In Week 1 Greg Hardy had a few tackles, a sack and forced fumble which put him in the DE1 range. If you had Hardy and are looking to replace him, you’ll want to look outside of Carolina. Instead of one player taking Hardy’s playing time, the trio of Wes Horton, Kony Ealy and Mario Addison all played between 34 and 29 snaps. While Mario Addison recorded 2.5 sacks, playing that well won’t be sustainable on that few snaps. By PFF count he had four sacks, and they all came when he lined up at defensive left end going up against third and fourth string right tackles. Addison and the rest of the defensive ends are best left on the waiver wire.
