IDP Snap Report - Week 2

MarksWe are back for another season which means that the IDP Snap Report is back. Each week we will let you know how players are being used differently as the year goes on and how that affects their fantasy impact. This week since there has only been one game in the books, we will compare some of the new defenses in the league to last year to let you know what you can expect. During the off-season we could only take our best guess to how much substituting would happen, but after one week we have a much better idea.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills have a brand new coaching staff and a new hybrid defense. It is a little hard to tell how similar Week 1 will be compared to the rest of the season because they were up against the Patriots who frequently used three or four receiver sets, but we can still get some idea. Only four true defensive linemen were used throughout the game. Alex Carrington has benefited the most as he was a backup last year and never played more than 33 snaps in a game, and this week he played in 60. This should only help Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams fantasy value as well.

As for the pass rushers, Mario Williams only played in 80% of snaps which is a little lower than he is used to. This could be because he rushed the passer 44 times and needed a break more frequently, but it is something to keep an eye on. Jerry Hughes wasn’t far behind with 67% of snaps. As for the inside, Kiko Alonso fans are happy he played every down. We saw some of Nigel Bradham in the base defense and Arthur Moats in the nickel, but neither saw enough playing time to warrant much consideration.
