IDP Snap Report - Week 1

Collins2We are back for yet another season of the IDP snap report. Here we look at defensive players who play in the front seven, and how teams have changed how they are used. How players are used influences how many snaps they receive, and the more plays a player is on the field, the more opportunities they have to score fantasy points.

Typically we’ll look at changes from how players were used this past week compared to previous weeks, but for this edition we can’t do that because there has been just one week of the season. Instead, here are three teams that made major changes to their defense, and how those changes will impact their player’s fantasy value.

Atlanta Falcons

This off-season the Falcons made a switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense. This only really effects their base defense, as both last year and this year they are using a 4-2-5 for their nickel defense. The most important man to be aware of is linebacker Paul Worrilow. He played every single snap and thanks to a high tackle count was a top 20 fantasy linebacker in Week 1. Due to his every down role, he should consistently be somewhere in the top 20.
