A simple lesson to be learned in placing any stake into a DFS offering is that there will be occasions when you will not come out on top. It is important to keep in mind that, as long as you are following a sound strategy, you will eventually reach success. Week 1 didn't go 100 percent to plan and the bankroll slightly dipped, but the season has just begun, and that gives us plenty of time to reverse the fortunes.
Looking back on Week 1, here are some quick notes:
QB – Jaquez Johnson (FAU) was great facing Tulsa and really picked up the slack (28.22 points) from a lackluster day (13.58) by Jeremy Johnson (AUB). Keep in mind that Jeremy Johnson will still hold value moving forward and need proper consideration.
RB – Jalen Hurd (UT) shredded the Bowling Green defense (33.3), while Christian McCaffrey (STA) was unable to break free of Northwestern (12.9). LeShun Daniels Jr. (15.3) was decent facing the FCS opponent and, despite the high-scoring affair, DeAndre Washington (TTE) was surprisingly quiet (10.8).
WR – This is the position that led to the lineups problems and much can be learned from the selections. Reaching to find value, counting on the unproven Dontez Ford (PIT) was a mistake (5.2) within the cash game format. Jordan Westerkamp (NEB) provided more than his share of production (26.7), but Duke Williams (AUB) was unable to transcend Johnson's poor day. Looking back, stacking the two Auburn Tigers was a decision that should have been reconsidered.
