Here are the top takeaways from Friday night’s Titans-Falcons game, including the highest-graded players for each team.
Titans
– Horrible interception aside Marcus Mariota had an assured enough debut completing 7-of-8 passes when not pressured, including one precise long third down completion.
– Second round receiver Dorial Green-Beckham saw a football field for the first time in a while, logging 19 snaps and running 11 routes. He was targeted twice including one completion that showed his upside.
– Toby Johnson didn’t wow us for Georgia but had a solid debut against the Falcons reserve lineman. He plugged the middle manfully and led the team with three defensive stops.
Top 5 graded players:
Phillip Supernaw (+4.3)
Jamon Meredith (+4.0)
Toby Johnson (+2.9)
Derrick Lott (+2.1)
William Poehls (+2.0)
Falcons
–Tough debut for Grady Jarrett. He was immense in the ACC but struggled in his first competitive NFL action, turning 31 snaps into just a solitary hurry and stop and regularly being swallowed up by double teams.
– If nothing else Sean Renfree made a case for more playing time in his quest to earn a backup job. He threw just one incompletion as T.J. Yates ambled his way to a 53.5 QB rating.
– First round pick Vic Beasley had a quiet debut, featuring on just 10 snaps and not getting much of a chance (four snaps) to show what he could offer rushing the passer.
Top 5 graded players:
Pierce Burton (+2.7)
Kroy Biermann (+1.9)
Julio Jones (+1.8)
Sean Renfree (+1.7)
Nick Williams (+1.5)
