Grades for Saints-Ravens

Here are the top takeaways from the pre-season opener for the Saints and the Ravens from Thursday, including the top grades for each team:

Ravens

–Justin Forsett started but played just four snaps leaving the floor clear for Lorenzo Taliaferro to impress in both run and pass games, earning a +2.2 overall grade.

–In the absence of Timmy Jernigan and Chris Canty, backups Lawrence Guy and Carl Davis each played in excess of 40 snaps from the starting lineup, earning the two highest grades on the defense in the process.

–Rookie edge defender Za’Darius Smith led all defensive players with 62 snaps last night racking up six pressures and a batted pass on 38 pass rushes.

Saints

–All three of the Saints quarterbacks who saw the field last night earned overall grades of +1.4 or above with rookie Garrett Grayson leading the way with a +2.6 overall grade.

–The Saints reserve offensive linemen failed to make a positive impact last night, only veteran guard Mike McGlynn earned a positive overall grade of the eight linemen to come in after the starters played their 18 snaps.

–Rookie defensive lineman Bobby Richardson made the rapid rise from undrafted free agent to starter in the preseason opener. He didn’t record any pressures but picked up two stops in an impressive debut as a run defender.
