Giants' bad safety situation gets worse

One of the biggest storylines for the Giants this offseason has been what they will do at the safety position, with Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown finding new homes while Quentin Demps remains unsigned. The situation got worse Thursday with the news that Nat Berhe has a torn muscle in his calf that will keep him out for an undetermined amount of time.

The Giants drafted Landon Collins out of Alabama in the second round to take one safety position, but their best option at the other starting spot is Jeromy Miles, who signed a few weeks ago after playing last season with the Ravens.

While playing in a safety rotation for Baltimore, he allowed just 0.14 yards per coverage snap, which was third-best for 90 qualifying safeties. In his 224 coverage snaps he allowed only two passes of more than four yards, and had an interception.

This is still a big problem position for the Giants, but Miles’ performance last season does offer some hope for a potential fix.
