Who's ready for a wild week of NFL DFS? The end of any sports season always throws its curves at those of us that use rational, logical, and metric-based approaches to fantasy sports.
Anything can happen in this final week of the regular season as teams variously are playing for a wild card spot (will go all out no matter what), playing for a higher seed (will play hard, but also have on eye on playoff health), playing for pride (will play hard, but still be bad), or playing for nothing at all (who knows what to expect).
In terms of DFS, it makes it hard to spend up on studs that may not play a full game or might not fight for extra yards, lay out for tough catches, or scramble for first downs. It also opens up some potential value.
As of Friday, we hear that New England, guaranteed a first round Bye, will likely rest its starters at some point during their meaningless game vs the Bills. We should know a lot more about any planned rest by Sunday. This week, I'll apply the same combinatorial approach I've been using in this column all season with an eye toward avoiding potential land mines. That will be more important to your ability to cash this week than finding that needle in a haystack value play. All salaries are for DraftKings.
