Week 16 IDP starts and sits

As always, make sure you’ve checked out Jeff Ratcliffe’s latest pieces if you want to stay on top of your IDP game. The work on tackles per opportunity (tPOP) helps identify the most favorable stat crews when it comes to awarding tackles, while the IDP Matchup Chart lets us key in on some of the best matchups on a positional basis. There is a reason PFF Fantasy is the home to the most accurate IDP rankers for the last four seasons according to FantasyPros, and data such as Jeff puts out is a large reason why.

Stop by the IDP section of the site and get the latest articles from both myself and Jeff.

With that being said, let’s dive into some start/sit advice for this week.

Pass Rushers

The 49ers have been a great matchup for pass rushers, and Ziggy Ansah, who has lost his lead in the sack race to Khalil Mack (now on 15) will be looking to add to his personal tally of 13.5. Ansah may not have had a sack last week, but he did record seven in the four weeks before that, while the 9ers offensive line has allowed a league-worst 15 sacks over the last five weeks. If you’re in a deep league with 16 or 32 franchises you may want to consider Jason Jones (one sack, two hits, 13 hurries in last four weeks) or Devin Taylor (three sacks, two hits and 10 hurries in last four weeks) this week as well, with the preference for Taylor.

The Giants are a better team than their record suggests, as shown by their gutsy comeback against the unbeaten Panthers, and will be looking to their pass rush to inspire a Week 16 win. Jason Pierre-Paul recorded his first sack of the season last week, but has actually been a presence in the backfield since his return, averaging 5.8 disruptions per game. Robert Ayers has 4.5 sacks in the last three games so is clearly a player in form, and is being helped by the attention being given to JPP, while the Vikings have been the sixth-best matchup for D-linemen all year, so he sneaks into top-end DL3 consideration.
