In a lot of ways, Thanksgiving week is one of the pivotal weeks on the football calendar. Many fantasy leagues wrap up their regular season, kick off expanded playoffs, or have a late trade deadline as soon as Week 12 kicks off.
Week 12 also brings many friends and families together for a full day of food, fun, and fantasy football. The added bonus for the 2015 season will be moving on from a wild Week 11 that brought a whole new level of wacky to an already unforgettable season.
The good news is that we can now move on from last week, and that the craziness provided an opportunity for savvy fantasy football owners with some remaining free agency bucks to capitalize on the injuries. Let’s look at the key players for the Week 12 free agency period.
Quarterbacks
Brian Hoyer, Texans (ESPN 11% owned; FAAB 6%) – Hoyer is already cleared from the league’s concussion protocol and will return as Houston’s starting quarterback. While that’s good news for Houston’s passing game, even better news is that Hoyer returns for a home game against New Orleans. The Saints, who recently fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, have had a week to try to patch up a secondary that has been an absolute sieve. That New Orleans secondary has already allowed 28 touchdown passes, and is on pace to set the NFL record in that department. Hoyer makes a fine streaming option in most fantasy formats.
