Like last week, we’re examining 11 quarterbacks’ matchups and ranking them in order, considering both their respective floors and ceilings. Picks are also split into sections or tiers. Anyone in the top tier is a better streamer than the second tier, and so on.
Note: I did not include Johnny Manziel because his status remains undetermined. If he plays, however, consider a member of the second section (“Stream 'em next”). Do not stream Austin Davis.
Stream ‘em if you can
These quarterbacks have high ceilings and excellent matchups. Bonus points go to players with high floors to boot.
Ryan Fitzpatrick (26.3 percent) New York Jets at New York Giants
Ryan Fitzpatrick led New York to a decisive victory against Miami, passing for four touchdowns and 277 yards. It was easily his best passing performance of the season. Nearly nine of his 12.6 yards per completion came through the air, and his sub-60 completion percentage is a misleading product resulting from five dropped passes.
While it was an excellent performance, it wasn’t out of the ordinary. Fitzpatrick has passed for at least two touchdowns in eight of the 10 games he’s completed. He has been as consistent as any quarterback, so playing in a favorable matchup only sweetens the pot.
New York has been dreadful defending the pass. Three of the last four quarterbacks they have faced passed for more than 300 yards. Its 7.5-net-yards-per-attempt average ranks ahead of only New Orleans, who has been historically bad this season. Fitzpatrick has the highest floor of any player on this list. It’s a nice boon that his opponent offers a high ceiling too.
