It's quarterback schedule week. Monday, we offered an overview of the whole position from a schedule perspective. Today, it's about guys to target and avoid in the early part of the season.
September streaming
If you are a quarterback streaming aficionado or simply wish to get off to a strong start and reconfigure your roster after the first month, a deep dive into early-season matchups is a worthy exercise. A huge advantage to drafting streamers with accommodating September schedules is we avoid burning high waiver picks on the next week’s quarterback. Instead the focus stays on the potentially league-winning free agent running back and receivers who typically are more available during early-season waiver runs.
Here are five passers who are not every-week fantasy starters and have accommodating September schedules.
Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (NYG, @WAS, CHI, @SF): The Cowboys’ preferred pace will keep Romo’s pass attempts to a minimum most weeks, but he should start out hot. The Giants and 49ers feature up-tempo offenses, which typically increase opponents’ snaps as well. The Bears and 49ers profile as “funnel defenses,” with strong run-stopping and questionable pass coverage. Washington’s defense has several question marks throughout, and Josh Norman’s first division-rival duel with Dez Bryant could spark fireworks.
