Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham, aided by solid roster depth at both the running back and wide receiver positions, lead the Saints to the No. 4 spot on the 2014 fantasy power rankings.
The Saints offer fantasy owners 45.3 percent more value compared to the average NFL team and 82.3 percent of the value compared to the NFL’s best team.
Brees has finished as the sixth (2010), second (2009, 2013), or first (2012, 2011, 2008) best fantasy quarterback each of the past six seasons. He’s as close to a lock as possible when it comes to being one of the best fantasy quarterbacks.
Brees has had three straight 5,000-plus yard season, and four in his career, and there’s no reason to doubt he’s capable of breaking the barrier again this season. Those worried about the offseason departure of Darren Sproles, a player Brees has clearly grown comfortable with over the past several seasons, need not fret. Sproles was targeted 84 times last season, but not far behind him was Pierre Thomas with 82. In other words, Brees will still have an “out of the backfield” blanket this season.
