The playoff picture in our fantasy leagues is starting to take shape, but it still isn’t too late to improve your roster via the waiver wire. Likewise, you can also block your opponents from grabbing players who might improve their rosters.

Remember, we cast a wide net every week in our waiver wire advice. Below you’ll see recommendations for shallow, regular and deep leagues. Players are listed in order of priority and the suggested auction budget percentage is in parentheses.

Keep in mind that some leagues may be more aggressive or conservative in terms of bidding, so know your league tendencies. Regardless of the size of your league, it’s suggested that you work your way down the list and prioritize the top players in your waiver claims for this week.

Shallow leagues (8-10 teams)

Quarterback

1. Kirk Cousins, Washington (10%) – Despite having to face a tough Eagles defense without Jordan Reed, Cousins still managed a solid stat line of 263 yards and two scores through the air. This week he faces a Lions defense that just gave up a huge day to Case Keenum. Cousins is this week’s top streaming option at quarterback.

Running back

1. Terrance West, Baltimore (40%) – If he’s available, West is this week’s top add after he racked up 27 touches in Week 6. Despite the tough matchup, he scored twice and was also heavily involved in the passing game. West has put distance between himself and Kenneth Dixon, and should be considered an every-week RB2 with RB1 upside going forward.

2. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina (35%) – Back after a three-game absence, Stewart found the end zone twice in Week 6. The Panthers are on bye this week, but Stewart should be added regardless. He’ll remain a high-volume runner for Carolina as long as he’s healthy.

3. Jay Ajayi, Miami (35%) – Few people saw Ajayi’s Week 6 performance coming. Despite Arian Foster being active, Ajayi dominated the workload and topped the 200-yard plateau. This is the high-water mark for the season, but Ajayi has made an extremely strong case to be the Dolphins’ lead back. Foster will still see work, especially as a receiver, but Ajayi is the much better fantasy option going forward.

4. Matt Jones, Washington (30%)Who? Matt Jones. For the second time in the last three weeks, Jones benefited from a positive game script and topped 100 yards on the ground. He isn’t matchup-proof, but Jones is certainly worth a roster spot as an RB2.

Wide receiver

1. Cameron Meredith, Chicago (35%) – He was mentioned as a must-add in all formats last week, but Meredith somehow slipped through a lot of waiver wires. That won’t happen this week after he saw a league-high 15 targets in Week 6. Cameron is a legitimate WR3 going forward.

2. Golden Tate, Detroit (30%) – Will the real Golden Tate please stand up? We finally saw the Tate of old in Week 6, as the veteran more than doubled his receiving yardage total for the season. Tate is back in the WR3 mix after his strong performance.

3. Kenny Britt, Los Angeles (25%) – Believe it or not, Britt actually ranks 14th among wide receivers in fantasy points following his impressive Week 6 performance. The Rams are certainly going to be up and down on the offensive side of the ball, but Britt is the clear top option in the receiving game. His upside makes him worth of a bench spot.

Tight end

1. Coby Fleener, New Orleans (20%) – Sure, he’s going to be up and down, but Fleener absolutely must be owned in all formats. He’s finished as a top-two fantasy tight end twice in five games played and currently ranks sixth in fantasy scoring at the position.

2. Hunter Henry, San Diego (15%) – With Antonio Gates clearly not 100 percent, Henry has emerged as one of Philip Rivers’ favorite receiving options. Henry has only seen 22 targets on the season, but he’s been extremely efficient with 314 yards and three scores on 19 catches. He also gets the Falcons this week.

Regular leagues (12 teams)

Quarterback

1. Marcus Mariota, Tennessee (8%) – One of last week’s top streamers, Mariota delivered with his second strong fantasy performance in a row. While he doesn’t put up big yardage totals, Mariota has tossed six scores and ran for 124 yards and a score over that span. He gets another strong matchup against the Colts this week.
