Week 3 waiver-wire pickups and fantasy targets

Fantasy football waivers can often make or break your season. Making the right decision on which players to add is crucial, so we have you set up with a deep list of potential waiver wire adds for Week 3.

Remember, we cast a wide net every week in our waiver wire advice. Below you’ll see recommendations for shallow, regular, and deep leagues. Players are listed in order of priority and the suggested auction budget percentage is in parentheses.

Keep in mind that some leagues may be more aggressive or conservative in terms of bidding, so know your league tendencies. Regardless of the size of your league, it’s suggested that you work your way down the list and prioritize the top players in your waiver claims for this week.

Shallow leagues (8-10 teams)

Quarterback

Ryan Fitzpatrick, TB (10-20%) — He's the No. 1 fantasy quarterback through the first two weeks of the season, is a style trendsetter, and could very well keep the starting job in Tampa even after Jameis Winston returns from suspension.

Matt Ryan, ATL (8-15%) — Ryan isn't going to score two rushing touchdowns every week, but he will continue to be a QB2-plus and is still available in 19 percent of leagues.

Running back

Giovani Bernard, CIN (15-30%) — With Joe Mixon slated to miss the next 2-4 weeks, Bernard will lead the Bengals backfield and should see enough volume to put up RB2 numbers.

Matt Breida, SF (15-30%) — He flashed major upside in Week 2, but be careful to not overvalue Breida. He was still behind Alfred Morris in touches 16-14.

Phillip Lindsay, DEN (15-30%) — The Broncos backfield is still using a “hot hand” approach, but Lindsay's hand is hot. He's now in the weekly flex conversation.

Wide receiver

Will Fuller, HST (50-100%) — Fuller is coming off a big Week 2 performance and is surprisingly available in 15 percent of leagues.

Quincy Enunwa, NYJ (25-50%) — Enunwa again saw heavy volume with 11 targets in Week 2.

Tyler Lockett, SEA (20-40%) — He's now scored in back-to-back weeks and will continue to benefit from Doug Baldwin‘s missed time.

Tight end

O.J. Howard, TB (10-20%) — Be careful with Howard. Yes, he had a big Week 2 stat line, but 75-yard touchdowns are not sustainable.

Regular leagues (12 teams)

Quarterback

Blake Bortles, JAX (5-8%) — In a crazy fantasy week, Bortles' Week 2 stat line was one of the most surprising. However, he's still Blake Bortles and shouldn't be trusted as anything more than a QB2.
