Week 2 waiver-wire pickups for IDP leagues
There aren’t many situations in life that leave you with such a mix of pleasure and pain like the Tuesday morning after the NFL’s opening weekend. The euphoria that the season is back, the over-reaction to how your team performed, the frustration at season-ending injuries, and the mixed fortunes of your fantasy teams. But one constant that holds true every season is the sanctity of the waiver wire. A place for redemption. Somewhere that, with a few shrewd moves, you can get your fantasy team’s season back on track despite the draft day reaches. And no other week quite offers the opportunities that Week 1 does… let’s get in and find some waiver wire gold for your IDP roster.
Clearly the 10-sack, four-turnover day had by the Jags defense isn’t going to be a weekly occurrence, but it’s not a unit to take lightly. Free agent acquisition Calais Campbell was in his pomp on Sunday, leading the line with six total tackles and five sacks, but the perennial DL1 won’t be available in any formats, so instead turn your attentions to Fowler, who posted three total tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a recovery for a touchdown, and Ngakoue, who racked up four total tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Of the two, you have to see more upside in former first-round pick Fowler, but looking at their pass-rushing snap counts, Campbell led the way with 38, Ngakoue had 31, and Fowler 24. Ngakoue was also much more productive in his rushes, generating five hurries as well as his two sacks, whereas Fowler only charted two hurries (and one sack).
