Top dynasty options in the 2018 draft class: Nos. 6-1

In my first piece for PFF Fantasy, published Saturday, I chronicled the first half of my 2018 dynasty rookie top 12. Below, you will find the countdown from 6 to No. 1.

First, a refresher on my guys ranked 12-7:

12. Richie James, WR, Middle Tennessee State
11. Myles Gaskin, RB, Washington
10. Royce Freeman, RB, Oregon
9. Deon Cain, WR, Clemson
8. Ronald Jones II, RB, USC
7. Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama

And now the top six:

6. Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia

The talent suggests Chubb should be much higher on this list but lingering injury questions are too much to overlook. He suffered a horrific knee injury, not the first Georgia running back to do so, in 2015 and spent much of last season looking less than fully recovered. For example, Chubb’s elusiveness rating in 2016 was a respectable 63.7, it was 108.5 during his healthy (and historic) 2014 season, which was good for third that year. His breakaway percentage (36.5 percent) in 2016 was just a hair above Samaje Perine, compared to 2014, when he was fourth overall (52.1 percent) and 16 spots above some joker named Ezekiel Elliott.

Of all the players in the top six, Chubb has the most volatility based on the 2017 college season. He could catapult into the top three or stumble down the ranks quickly. His draft stock is just as tenuous. Some see him as a fringe first round pick while others suggest he could fall deep into Day 2.
