I’m in the midst of decluttering my home. (Stay with me.)
There’s the book called The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. It’s all the rage. The premise is simply that you should get rid of anything in your home that doesn’t bring you joy. It sounds a little hokey, but it works.
One of the most hammered-upon points in the book is that just because something is on sale, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bargain. If you spent money on something that you’ll never use, then you threw away your money for nothing.
I try to think about that when I set my DFS lineups. In fact, I always have this article pulled up and I try to only use one bargain per lineup. I want to help you save money where you can, but not waste money where you shouldn’t.
Here are some cost-saving players you can actually use.
Quarterbacks
Brian Hoyer, Chicago Bears (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars)
FanDuel: $7,000 (24th, tied)
DraftKings: $5,800 (19th, tied)
Yahoo: $29 (23rd, tied)
Hoyer has now thrown for more than 300 yards in three games in a row with two touchdowns in each. No interceptions. Yes, Brian Hoyer. You have to think that his turnover ways will pop up eventually, but this week he has another nice matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The only catch: Is Hoyer still the guy? Despite Hoyer’s performance over the last three weeks, head coach John Fox remained coy about whether this was Hoyer’s job or whether Jay Cutler might get another shot. For fantasy purposes, we’re all leaning Hoyer.
