The top DFS bargains for Week 2
Unlike in Week 1, we don’t get a whole month to mull over our lineups. This week we need to make quick decisions and those decisions have to be made on dubious data.
Do you primarily go off of the numbers and performances from Week 1 of this season? How much weight should you give to a player’s prior performance, whether that be the year prior or their history against a particular team?
Here are some players that are priced so nice that no matter which data points you choose to consider, they should be strong considerations for your lineups.
Josh McCown, Cleveland Browns (vs. Ravens)
FanDuel: $6,000 (tied for 36th)
DraftKings: $5,000 (QB minimum)
Yahoo: $22 (tied for 33rd)
The Browns had to place Robert Griffin III on IR this week with a broken shoulder bone. The injury is in his non-throwing shoulder, but you still can’t feel optimistic about his season-long outlook. What you can do is move McCown to the top of the depth chart as well as move up his offensive weapons’ fantasy projections.
Last season, McCown averaged 263.6 passing yards per game and scored 12 touchdowns against just four interceptions. This year he’ll play under an offensive-minded coach, Hue Jackson, with a great history of bringing the most out of quarterbacks. The team added Corey Coleman through the draft, will get Josh Gordon back in Week 5 after he serves his suspension and Terrelle Pryor grew into a legitimate receiving down the field threat.
McCown will also reunite with Gary Barnidge, so fantasy players can take a deep breath after Barnidge put up a goose egg in Week 1. Barnidge averaged 5.75 receptions and 92 yards per game with McCown under center.
