The top player stacks for Week 1 in daily fantasy
In last year’s Stack ‘Em Up column we looked to find the best quarterback/wide receiver and quarterback/tight end stacks. Recent studies like this one have helped confirm that it’s also valuable to stack entire offenses — including the running back and quarterback.
This season, we’ll profile the three best stacks of the week from the three most populated DFS sites — FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo! Daily. Sometimes, they will simply be the best stacks based on the matchups. Other times, we’ll go for contrarian stacks with high ceilings. Either way, you’ll have an excellent idea of what teams to target for you DFS squad.
Let’s jump in.
Tyrod Taylor, QB, and Sammy Watkins, WR (Bills vs. Ravens)
On FanDuel, we’re going to kick things off with a classic QB/WR stack. Although LeSean McCoy could get going through the air and in the red zone, the safe bet is to sit him against 2015’s ninth-best run defense. The same concept is not true for the Bills’ passing game.
These are not the Ravens of the past decade when it comes to creating pressure and limiting big plays. In 2015, the Ravens finished with just the 24th-best pass-rush grade overall and the 23rd-best pass-coverage grade overall. If you took away last season’s top edge rusher Elvis Dumervil, the Ravens would have ranked just 30th-best in pass rush. This is important because Dumervil will miss Week 1. The Ravens will have to rely on the ghost of Terrell Suggs to deliver pressure.
