Preseason Week 3 is upon us, and it’s the closest thing we’ll get to the real deal until the actual real deal.
Given that starters will be playing more this week, DFS will be a bit easier from a research perspective. But it won’t be easy pickings — the starters don’t play the entire game.
We have two games on Thursday and two more on Friday. Below are some of my favorite plays for these two slates.
Quarterbacks
Chad Henne will reportedly start over Blake Bortles for the Jaguars on Thursday night, but Bortles will also get reps with the first team and snaps should be split evenly. So far this season, Bortles is 11-of-18 for 81 yards and no scores. Henne is 11-of-16 for 183 yards and a touchdown. Henne is the better pick on Thursday night.
You have to like Jimmy Garoppolo again this week. He has taken 94 snaps this preseason, second-most among all quarterbacks, and his 380 passing yards and three touchdowns are ranked first. Brady will play, but Garoppolo could still see a full action of play. The Patriots suit up on Friday night.
Jay Cutler played just 11 snaps in his Dolphins debut, but none of the Miami quarterbacks saw many snaps last week. If Cutler is expected to go for an entire half (check before the game), I’d load up on him on Thursday night.
