Fantasy football draft season is in full swing, which means your 2018 squad is about to take shape. Before heading into the battlefield, though, it’s a good idea to get a sense of where the landmines are.
That’s where this piece comes into play. We’ll go round-by-round and highlight the players who are currently overvalued. That’s not to say these are bad players or bad fantasy options (Aaron Rodgers is on this list, and nobody thinks he’s bad). Rather, this article highlights the players that are going too high based on the relative value they bring to your fantasy team.

First round: Leonard Fournette, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
ADP: 10; Ranking: 16
In PPR leagues, you should think of Fournette more as an early second-round pick rather than a late first. He saw 43 targets last year, and while that’s not a terrible amount, it’s 20-30 fewer than some of the other running backs going in this range, like Melvin Gordon and Kareem Hunt.
Second round: LeSean McCoy, RB, Buffalo Bills
ADP: 24; Ranking: 36
Off-field concerns aside, McCoy should scare you in 2018 from a real football perspective as well. He’s entering his age-30 season after touching the ball nearly 350 times last year. The current quarterback situation in Buffalo suggests that this offense is going to be nigh unwatchable in 2018. McCoy is barely worth a late third-round pick, let alone a late second.
Third round: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers
ADP: 26; Ranking: 47
