The best fantasy QB options to stream for Week 7
Recapping the quarterback streaming options featured in Week 6, we got a jackpot performance from Marcus Mariota, yet another serviceable outing from rookie Dak Prescott, and at long last, a fantasy letdown from Brian Hoyer.
|Week 6||Fantasy Points||*Fantasy Rank||*PFF Passing Grade|
Notes: Dak Prescott was owned in only 54 percent of ESPN leagues this time last week, and he was started in only 25 percent of lineups. Prescott’s average of 0.72 fantasy points per dropback was fourth-best on Sunday (he ranks second on the season in that metric), and he should have Dez Bryant back from a three-game absence when the Cowboys return from their bye to face the Eagles in Week 8. As cautioned last week, Prescott’s days of being a widely available streaming option are about over… Brian Hoyer went over the 300-yard passing mark for the fourth time in as many games since taking the reins in Chicago, although his fantasy output was sapped by the fact that he did not record any touchdowns. However, he also did not turn the ball over, and he looked early and often to Alshon Jeffery, Cameron Meredith, and Zach Miller… We’ll get into Marcus Mariota in more detail below. He remained unowned in roughly two-thirds of ESPN leagues entering Week 6, and like Prescott and Carson Wentz before him, that’s about to change moving forward.
Tyrod Taylor (55-percent ownership) was the lone honorable mention in Week 6, and his 22 fantasy points were 10th-best among quarterbacks on Sunday. (Hint: more on him below).
Looking ahead to Week 7, Carolina and Dallas will have a bye, taking Prescott and Cam Newton out of play. The big injury news of the week was a torn meniscus for Ben Roethlisberger, although he reportedly dodged a bullet and could return as soon as Week 9 when the Steelers come off their bye. Still, his fantasy owners will have to make do for at least the next two weeks.
Below are the most attractive options for QB streaming in Week 7, listed by ownership and start percentages from ESPN leagues as well as FanDuel salary. Deeper league options are listed in the honorable mention section.
Marcus Mariota (IND @ TEN) – 41 percent owned/17.4 percent started/$7,900 FanDuel salary
Mariota followed up his sensational Week 5 performance with another elite showing in Week 6, as he tagged the Browns for a season-best 284 yards and three touchdowns on 17-of-24 passing to go with a season-high 64 rushing yards on seven carries. In this space last week, I discussed how Mariota’s full potential would be unleashed when his rushing ability became a regular part of weekly game plans, and it appears the Titans coaching staff is ready to make that happen. Over the last two weeks, Mariota has rushed for a league-high 124 yards and a TD on 14 carries, which also happens to coincide with the first time in his career that he eclipsed 25 fantasy points in consecutive weeks.
