Week 7 represents the halfway pole for the fantasy regular season in many leagues, so by now you should have a pretty good indication of where your roster stands against your leaguemates. By the same token, we also have a pretty good idea about the strength of matchups now that we have six weeks of data under the belt, so I’m happy to announce our points against data is now live on the site, and acts as a very handy tool in deciding between two closely matched players in any given week. As always, our weekly team/game tackle projections are also available for you to analyze, as is the updated three-down linebacker chart and our shadow corner matrix. If I’m sounding like a broken record when pushing you toward these data tables, it’s because they are the root of fantasy success for Jeff Ratcliffe and me. There aren’t shortcuts to being a better fantasy gamer, it’s simply a deeper understanding of matchups, opportunities and their implications, which you can only gain from putting in the work.

This is the start/sit advice for Week 7 in IDP leagues.

Defensive linemen

Start: Cameron Jordan and Nick Fairley, New Orleans Saints

Currently the best matchup for fantasy defensive linemen is the Chiefs, so expect a big game from Cameron Jordan in Week 7, and in leagues that require you to start a defensive tackle, you’ll want to take a second look at Nick Fairley. Jordan only has 2.5 sacks on the year (and a forced fumble), but his seven quarterback hits leads all 4-3 defensive ends and his 20 total pressures ranks ninth against his peers, suggesting when the matchup falls in his favor that he’ll post a big score, so I’m expecting a solid DL1 performance, perhaps even a top-five score. Fairley is even worth considering in leagues that ask fantasy gamers to start a DL as he’s a top-10 DT in both his run-stopping percentage and pass-rush productivity, as he is shaping up as an upside DL3 this week.
