Week 9 fantasy start/sit mailbag
I’m switching things up this week with our PFF Fantasy Start/Sit column. Previously I’ve picked the names, guys I thought could pose start/sit quandaries for fantasy players out there. But this week, I put out a Twitter call for real-life start/sit conundrums. The response was overwhelmingly positive. I fielded a lot of questions on Twitter and now I would like to expand on those answers for the rest of our readers.
Again, make sure you Tweet any start/sit question you have before Wednesday night of every week. If I can’t get to them in this column (I’ll be picking the best ones), then I will surely answer them on Twitter. The more questions I get, the more I answer. (Don’t quote me on that, my editor has final say on how many questions I answer.)
You can send your start/sit questions my way on Twitter @DanSchneierNFL.
Now let’s jump into some of the best start/sit questions of the week.
@Timay72: Pick 2: Jeremy Maclin, Donte Moncrief, Cole Beasley
In all of these pick-two situations, I like to pinpoint the lock play from the start. For me, in Week 9, the obvious lock play of these three is Moncrief. On the Week 9 slate, Moncrief is one of the elite DFS plays due to a combination of his lengthy absence keeping his price down and his projected uptick in targets not being factored into his price enough.
When Moncrief went down with a shoulder injury earlier this season, T.Y. Hilton became a target hog. Hilton became the only option in the passing game, and through eight weeks, he has the fifth-most targets in the NFL. In Week 8, Hilton aggravated his hamstring injury from earlier this season. Although he eventually returned to the game, he didn’t show off his trademark burst. As of Wednesday, he has yet to commit to playing in Week 9.
