As always, we’ll kick off the start/sit column by looking back at the players we advised to start and sit the week before. Week 11 was a roller coaster here. Kirk Cousins, Julian Edelman and C.J. Prosise all scored big — an injury was the only thing holding Prosise back from breaking out with Cousins. At the same time, we also advised to start Martellus Bennett and Tyrod Taylor. Those were both matchup plays that didn’t pan out.
We did much better with the sit side of the column. Cameron Meredith, Ryan Mathews, Ryan Tannehill and Carlos Hyde were all busts. Rashad Jennings had a much better game than expected as the Giants surprisingly handled the Bears’ run defense.
As always, I would love to continue the discussion and hear your thoughts on your most difficult start/sit questions on Twitter. Throw me a follow @DanSchneierNFL and I am prepared to answer every question that comes my way. For now, let’s jump into the Week 10 start/sit plays.
Start
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Steelers (vs. Colts)
You likely drafted Roethlisberger to be your every-week QB1 and have since benched him, but don’t let recency bias dissuade you from leaning on Roethlisberger in a juicy matchup. Roethlisberger has burned fantasy owners looking for big games in easy matchups in consecutive weeks. His home/road split narrative has only grown more compelling after a mediocre showing in Cleveland. Keep in mind that the Steelers and Browns were dealing with whipping windy conditions in Week 11 and Roethlisberger will avoid those in Week 12 when the Steelers play the Colts inside their dome. Roethlisberger will also enjoy an easier matchup.
