The genesis of this article was to tell people to relax…. or panic. Life is supposed to be about balance, right?
In Week 6, I’m only hitting the panic button. Repeatedly.
It starts with Ben Roethlisberger’s injury. Even as someone who prides themselves on finding that silver lining, being without Big Ben in Pittsburgh is a fantasy death sentence.
And it’s time to reassess some players. I mean really give them another look through the lens of PFF’s signature stats. What you find may alarm you.
Ben Roethlisberger’s absence
Last night, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported the Ben Roethlisberger has a torn meniscus in his left knee and will have surgery Monday. The injury occurred during the second quarter of Sunday’s game at Miami. Roethlisberger did return after halftime, but he clearly struggled playing on his hyperextended knee.
There is no timetable for his return, but the Post-Gazette noted that there is a possibility that Roethlisberger could be back as early as November 6 to face the Baltimore Ravens. If he can get back for that game, he will only miss one team outing due to a Week 8 bye. Unfortunately, the game he’s basically guaranteed to miss is against the New England Patriots.
