As we do every July during the run-up to NFL training camp, we are taking a spin around the league to ask and answer a pressing fantasy question for each team. Next up is the defense-laden AFC West. This season, the division matches up with the AFC East and NFC East. The strong defenses of the Giants and Patriots, along with a couple other potentially problematic units, are added to an already-rough slate for AFC West offenses.

Denver Broncos

Has enough changed in Denver to get us excited about anyone’s fantasy outlook?

A new head coach (Vance Joseph), new/old offensive coordinator (Mike McCoy), and a potentially new quarterback (Paxton Lynch) are the main catalysts for improving upon an uninspiring 2016 fantasy campaign. The Broncos were middle-of-the-pack in plays per game (63.8; 15th-most), pass attempts per game (35.6; 17th), and handoffs per game (25.6; 15th). They were slightly below league-average for percentage of plays leading (31.4 percent vs. 34.5 percent) and just above it for trail rate (50.5 percent vs. 47.7).
