Week 6 optimal Yahoo lineup: Focus on CAR-NO

With just a single over/under higher than 48, Las Vegas is projecting this to be a relatively low-scoring week in the NFL. Not that it really matters, since all DFS players will be using the same pool of players, but it is interesting to note in that cash lines should be a little lower than normal come Monday.

This is a look at Week 6 in Yahoo DFS. As I will every week, I’ll remind you that it’s important to remember some of the subtle differences between daily fantasy and other types of fantasy football, as well as the differences between the aforementioned DFS game types. Daily fantasy operates under a budget, so the relative value a player offers at his respective price is just as important as his raw statistical production when constructing lineups. As far as cash games vs. tournaments, remember that 50/50s and Double Ups generally have a lower cash line while tournaments will require a unique and high-scoring lineup, so choose the ceilings and floors of your players accordingly. My optimal tournament lineup for this week in Yahoo DFS is at the end of this post.

Quarterbacks

In a week where the cheap volume we have been enjoying at the running back position has seemingly dried up as the pricing algorithms find their level, it is necessary to look for value at other positions in cash games. With Yahoo’s main slate including the Monday night game, this becomes easier given the low salary of Carson Palmer ($30). Facing a Jets defense that is allowing the fourth-most points per game to opposing fantasy quarterbacks, Palmer is priced as merely the QB19 on Yahoo. The Jets have become somewhat of a funnel defense, as they are getting torched through the air but have been extremely stout against the run (3.0 YPC allowed, second lowest in the league), giving Palmer’s floor a boost. Coming off a missed game due to a concussion, Palmer is likely to be lower owned than on average. That, combined with the inherent upside of Arizona’s offense in a plus matchup, puts him in play for tournaments as well.
