Week 8 waiver-wire pickups for IDP leagues
This week’s waiver wire for IDP leagues is very much focused on the youth of the NFL, with four rookies mentioned, as well as a couple of second-year players. It’s more than coincidence too, as teams around the league start accepting their fate and start looking to their potential stars of the future, and also, these young players begin to grasp the finer points of what it takes to be a successful professional athlete in the NFL. If you’re in one of those deep IDP leagues where everyone under the sun is owned, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter (@RossMilesNFL) with your questions.
Joey Bosa, San Diego Chargers
The column inches earned by Bosa following the draft were due to his contract disputes with the Chargers franchise, but since he has made it on to the field analysts and fans alike have quickly forgotten any issues they had with the offseason dispute. Bosa has quite simply been a wrecking ball between the numbers, and in fact, since 2006, no player has generated more pressures through their first three games (20). Bosa has racked up four sacks, four hits and 12 hurries in his 98 pass rush snaps, which means he’s disrupting passing plays on one out of every five rushes, and you only have to watch a series or two from the Chargers defense to be able to notice the impact he is having because he stands out that much. In shallower leagues Bosa may still be kicking around on the waivers, and if he is, he’s now moved up into the must-own territory, and should be considered a weekly DL1.
