Welcome to Week 6’s IDP waiver wire, which sees several members of the 2016 rookie class work their way into a mention. Rookies are always difficult to gauge when it comes to ownership from league to league because of the hype around them following the draft and the depth in your league, so hopefully several of these guys will be available for you to grab this week.
Defensive linemen
Joey Bosa, DE, San Diego Chargers
Unquestionably one of the stars of the week, Bosa saw his first action of the season after a lengthy contract dispute with San Diego following being selected third overall in April. Bosa only got on the field for 27 snaps (of 76) this week, but, was devastating when on the field, generating two sacks, one hit, four hurries and five total tackles in just 20 pass-rush snaps. That’s pressure on 35 percent of snaps, an unsustainable figure, but potentially indicative of the disruption Bosa can bring, and why he was taken so early in the first round in the draft. His playing time is certainly going to increase as he gets back to 100 percent health after his hamstring injury, and he’s the No. 1 target on the waiver wire this week across all positions. I’d hesitate from pushing Bosa straight into DL1 territory based of 27 snaps in his first ever pro game, but he is going to be heading that way very quickly if this type of performance keeps up.
