Houston Texans offseason wish list for fantasy
The Houston Texans actually have a lot to be optimistic about despite finishing the 2017 season with a 4-12 record. They have their quarterback of the future in the electric Deshaun Watson, who is on track to be ready for training camp after tearing his ACL in midseason. Watson was putting up top-five fantasy totals before getting hurt, and the team had gotten off to a 3-4 start. Houston also has one of the top wide receivers in the NFL as well as fantasy in DeAndre Hopkins, who is coming off a 13-touchdown campaign.
That’s not to say there isn’t room for improvement. The offensive line had a rough time in pass protection, allowing 54 sacks, second-most in the league. Houston will have look to improve through free agency and wise drafting as they do not currently own a first- or second-round selection in the 2018 draft.
Three additions we want to see for fantasy
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE: There’s the possibility C.J. Fiedorowicz will have to retire due to concussion issues and Seferian-Jenkins would be a nice addition to the offense. Seferian-Jenkins is coming off a season in which he set career-highs in games played (13), receptions (50), and receiving yards (357). Still just 25, Seferian-Jenkins could be a fantasy force and red-zone weapon for Watson.
Isaiah Crowell, RB: Incumbent starter Lamar Miller hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations during his two years in Houston averaging just 3.8 yards per carry and scoring just 12 touchdowns. Crowell was seriously underused down the stretch by the Browns last season, averaging just 14 touches per game in Weeks 13-17. Crowell could shine as the lead back for the Texans.
Select a wide receiver with one of their two third-round picks: While he has flashed fantasy potential — he is coming off a seven-touchdown season — Will Fuller has missed eight games in his first two NFL seasons and the Texans could use some more talent at the position either way. There’s depth at receiver in the draft and Watson has the chops to make a rookie pass-catcher fantasy relevant.
