The top DFS player stacks for Week 1
The 2018 NFL and fantasy football season is here, and it’s time to get your DFS tournaments underway. Whether you’re about to join the Millionaire Maker or a single-entry tournament, it’s important to consider the stacking strategy.
Just like any strategy option in DFS, there are multiple ways to grab value from stacking. You can pay up for your stack and find two of the highest-scoring players in all of DFS that week. Sometimes, you can even find two of the highest-scorers without paying up and instead finding value in the middle range. And of course, you can win using my favorite strategy — bargain stacks that allow you to find game-winners in the rest of your lineup.
Every week we’ll break down my favorite stacks overall and make the case for why you should be using them in your DFS tournament and cash games. Let’s jump right in.
(These stacks are not specific to FanDuel or DraftKings unless signified in the writeup.)
Matthew Stafford, QB, Marvin Jones and Golden Tate, WRs, Detroit Lions
It’s the second full season of Jim Bob Cooter’s offensive scheme and it’s safe to assume a big jump given the improvements the Lions made on the offensive line (first-round pick Frank Ragnow plus the return of a healthy Taylor Decker) and the expected progression from talented wide receiver Kenny Golladay, who finished the 2017 season on a tear. The Jets’ pass rush was nonexistent in the preseason after addressing the offense and secondary with their major assets this offseason. The Jets finished No. 27 in pass rush and dead last at No. 32 in pass coverage to close out the 2017 season.
