DFS guide: Week 8 in DraftKings cash games

If you followed the DraftKings strategy plays and recommendations listed here last week, Week 7 was likely a very profitable one for you in cash games. Cash games look much tougher this week with some tight pricing by DraftKings, limiting any screaming values. It’s a week where I recommend staying near your computer Sunday morning for any late-breaking news due to injury that could open up value.

Below is a look at my best tips and strategies for Week 8 in DraftKings cash games.

Quarterbacks

We have six teams on bye weeks, Thursday night, a London morning matchup, Sunday night, and Monday night all to deal with. That presents us with just nine games to choose players from on the main slate.

Philip Rivers is priced far too low at just $6,300 this week against the New England Patriots. New England has been one of the most fantasy-friendly defenses for opposing quarterbacks to start the year. Six of the seven quarterbacks they’ve faced have scored at least 20 DK points, with all of them hitting the 300-yard mark outside of Matt Ryan. They’ve also provided some significant ceiling games with both Alex Smith and Cam Newton reaching the 30-point threshold. The Patriots are allowing the most passing yards, passing touchdowns, and the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Rivers is as strong a cash game play as they come on paper.

I have no problem going back to the well from last week and double-dipping with Tyrod Taylor ($5,900) in cash once again. Last week, Taylor/LeSean McCoy stacks combined for nearly 50 points on DK, and could’ve gone for more had they connected on an end-zone target for McCoy. Playing at home again this week, Tyrod is averaging 19.2 DK points at home and just 11.0 on the road. The Raiders pass defense ranks top-10 in most completions, passing yards, and fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. Their defense has yet to intercept a pass and their pass rush ranks bottom-five in pressure rate. They just gave up a monster 28.7-point outing to Alex Smith on TNF, as he threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. I’m chasing that ceiling potential again with Taylor, who also has an incredibly high floor, averaging 35 rushing yards per game at home.
