Each week in this space, we look at fantasy players to fade in DFS games that week.

Last week’s list was pretty spot on, although we did have some big misses with Jameis Winston, Todd Gurley, and Aaron Jones. We’ll look for more success at picking the not-successful guys this week — particularly at the running back position.

As usual, this article aims to help you decide which players to avoid, whether it be based on price, matchup, or a combination of the two. Here are a handful of players I’ll be fading in Week 8.

Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. This list of “fades” is cash game focused, but most of these players can be avoided in tournaments as well. I’ll make note of players I think could be viable contrarian tournament picks, though.

Watson has been a revelation, but he belongs on the DFS bench in Week 8 against a Seahawks squad that has given up the fourth-fewest fantasy PPG this year, including three games in which they held opposing quarterbacks to under 160 yards.

Tom Brady, New England Patriots

Brady is always in play in tournaments, but his elevated price tag and the matchup makes it unnecessary to turn to him in cash this week. The Chargers have held all enemy quarterbacks to fewer than 250 yards, and no quarterback has thrown for more than two touchdowns against them.
