Our list of Week 1 DFS fades should have basically just been a list of (almost) everyone in the NFL.
We’re hoping Week 2 will provide some more fireworks, but we know that won’t be the case for every player. There are a handful of duds every week, and avoiding them is just as tricky as rostering the studs.
Here are some of the players you should consider avoiding in Week 2.
Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. This list of “fades” is cash game focused, but most of these players can be avoided in tournaments as well.
Quarterbacks
Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins
Cousins was brutal in Week 1. He completed just 23 of 40 passes for 240 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. This week, he faces a rejuvenated Rams defense that just eviscerated Indianapolis’ passing “attack.” The Redskins are infinitely better than the Andrew Luck-less Colts, but keeping opposing quarterbacks to a combined line of 11-of-21 for 179-0-2 (both INTs returned to touchdowns, too) is impressive. It might take some time for Cousins to gel with his new targets.
Prescott was decent in his debut, going 23-of-39 for 268 yards and a touchdown — a fine result against a strong Giants defense. But he faces an even stronger defense (the Broncos) in Week 2, plus this game is on the road. There are better matchups to exploit this week.
