Week 11 DFS fades and players to avoid

SANTA CLARA, CA - SEPTEMBER 21: Todd Gurley #30 of the Los Angeles Rams celebrates with Jared Goff #16 after scoring against the San Francisco 49ers during their NFL game at Levi's Stadium on September 21, 2017 in Santa Clara, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

You can fade a player in DFS for a number of reasons. Maybe you think that player will do well, but their salary is a bit prohibitive. Maybe they have a brutal matchup. Maybe it’s a combination of both.

Whatever your reason — and there are many more reasons — this article will help you identify some players you may want to avoid in Week 11.

Here are a handful of players I’ll be fading in Week 11.

Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. This list of “fades” is cash game focused, but most of these players can be avoided in tournaments as well. Keep in mind, however, that they might be good contrarian GPP plays because of their tough matchups and/or other issues making them “fade” candidates.

Quarterbacks

Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers

Rivers’ matchup against the Bills is tougher than it looks. Buffalo has given up either 1 or no touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks in all but one game this year. The way to beat Buffalo is on the ground.

Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins

Cousins draws the Saints, who have played some pretty remarkable pass defense since Week 3. Since then, opposing quarterbacks have lines of 184-0, 164-0, 87-0, 164-0, 135-1, and 135-1 against New Orleans. The Lions did put up 312-3 against them in Week 6, but other than that, New Orleans has been more than stout.
