Finding bargains and values in DFS is the key to any winning roster, both in cash games and tournaments. Our goal today is to find you the best bargains for your cash games and tournaments. We will specify what games to use each bargain in and how to capitalize on them in each given week.
High ownership is to be expected from some of these bargains, and we will touch in that in the writeup, so they should be used in cash games. However, some of these players are also excellent buys for tournaments and won’t have high ownership percentages. Generally speaking, quarterback is the one position where ownership tends to be spread out the most — in other words feel free using these bargains both in tournaments and cash games.
Alex Smith, QB, Washington Redskins
Smith remains priced as a mid-tier QB2 despite throwing for 255 passing yards and two touchdowns on just 30 attempts as the Redskins got ahead early in Week 1. Now, Smith faces a much less talented Colts defense that ranked near the bottom of our pass-rush and pass-coverage grades in 2017 then proceeded to use most of their offseason assets on the offensive side of the ball.
Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers
The Lions defense allowed 198 passing yards and two touchdowns on just 21 attempts for rookie Sam Darnold and there’s a good chance they allow a lot more on the road against Garoppolo whose price dropped into the QB2 range on DK after he struggled against arguably the NFL’s best defense (Vikings) in Week 1.
