A decision in January at the annual NCAA convention to deregulate conference championship games, previously maintaining a 12-team constrainment regulation, has set numerous pieces in motion to greatly alter the Sun Belt’s future. Currently featuring 11 teams, the Sun Belt will add Coastal Carolina, fresh off their first NCAA baseball championship, in all sports but football during the 2016 season. The football program will remain in the FCS as an independent and join in 2017. NCAA regulations will prevent the Chanticleers from competing in postseason play next season, persuading the Sun Belt to wait until 2018 to hold its inaugural conference title game. However, following the 2016 season, Idaho and New Mexico State will be booted from the conference and join the FCS. (For the rest of our college fantasy preview, click here.)
