PFF's fantasy football cheat sheet for Week 10

Depending on your fantasy football game provider, your trade deadline has either passed or is drawing near. If it has passed, your avenues for team improvement go down to just the waiver wire. If it’s not quite there yet, keep looking for trade options. Either way, our PFF advice is the place to go for help.

This is our weekly fantasy cheat sheet. You’ll want to tour through our full compendium of advice from the week, but if you’re short on time, this cheat sheet will get you most of the way to where you need to be. Below, you’ll find five of our top pieces of advice from the week, with links to the pieces the advice is drawn from. After that, you’ll find links to the rest of our season-long content for the week, and from there we move on to our DFS advice. Good luck in Week 10.

Season-long fantasy

Stream Chicago QB Jay Cutler
(from Mike Castiglione’s look at QB streamers)

Cutler only had a marginal day in his return from injury in Week 8, but he did guide Chicago to a win, and it was against the formidable defense of the Minnesota Vikings. This week, he and the Bears draw the Tampa Bay defense, which is far less formidable. The Buccaneers have allowed 857 passin gyards and eight passing touchdowns just in their last two games, and have been in the bottom 10 of PFF’s pass-defense grades all season long. Cutler, with Alshon Jeffery and Zach Miller as his primary weapons, has a strong chance in Week 10.

Sell Minnesota WR Stefon Diggs
(from Mike Tagliere’s stock market check)

Diggs had 13 catches and one run in Week 9. That’s a crazy total that might make him appealing as a player to acquire. Instead, it’s a good time to deal Diggs away. Diggs has been inconsistent and occasionally injured this season. Now, he’s on a struggling offense, and as the team’s clear top receiver, Diggs is likely to draw coverage from Washington’s Josh Norman, Arizona’s Patrick Peterson, Detroit’s Darius Slay and Dallas’ Morris Claiborne in upcoming weeks. His theoretical value is higher than his actual value is likely to be.

Add Jacksonville WR Marqise Lee
(from Jeff Ratcliffe’s waiver wire check)

Allen Hurns is in the concussion protocol. He could be cleared by Sunday, but if he isn’t, Lee becomes the team’s No. 2 wide receiver and has immediate fantasy value. Even absent that, though, Lee is tied with Allen Robinson in yards on the season, on 30 fewer targets. He’s a genuinely productive part of that offense at this point, missing only touchdowns. Injuries are what have held Lee back in his career so far, but he’s healthy now.

Sit New Orleans TE Coby Fleener
(from Dan Schneier’s start/sit advice)

Fleener still has a recognizable name, but that’s starting to be all he has. Last week, positionmate Josh Hill played 62 snaps for New Orleans compared to just 29 for Fleener. A tight end can succeed against the Broncos, but in general, that requires volume, and considering Fleener’s lack of snaps lately, volume is the one thing a fantasy owner can’t count on from him. Let him ride the pine for Week 10.

Upgrade NY Giants RB Paul Perkins
(from Jeff Ratcliffe’s flex rankings)

Perkins hasn’t really had a big game yet as a rookie. Of course, none of the Giants’ running backs has. Rashad Jennings is averaging only 2.6 yards per carry, and Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey have been similarly underwhelming. Perkins drew buzz as a potential sleeper in the preseason, and with the rest of the running game floundering, he could draw an extended look. He’s more of a rest-of-season sleeper candidate, but even in Week 10, the touches could start to trend his way. He’s a low-end lottery ticket.
