5 fantasy options for dynasty rebuilders to target

We are constantly absorbing, evaluating, and processing information both as humans and as dynasty players. The regular season begins next week, leaving us little time to quickly translate what we saw during the preseason and find any key takeaways that can help our rosters heading into the 2018 season.

Thursday we took a look at five players that dynasty contenders should target. Today we’ll take a look at the other side of the coin and target five players for dynasty rebuilders. When rebuilding a dynasty squad, it’s important to continue to make incremental trades that help your roster over the long run. This can be accomplished by taking shots at hyper-efficient young veterans and by throwing some darts at preseason standouts. There’s nothing wrong with bargain hunting for scraps as long as you don’t invest much. Let’s get right to it.

T.J. Yeldon, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars

Everyone and their mother has been trying to get ahold of Tevin Coleman in anticipation of him becoming next year’s Jerick McKinnon. Owners are holding him for a king’s ransom knowing they have a potential RB1 waiting in the wings. The sneaky move may be to target the arbitrage version of him in Yeldon. Taking on a secondary role last year behind Leonard Fournette, Yeldon made the most out of his limited touches. He finished right behind Kareem Hunt in fantasy PPR points per opportunity at a 0.50 clip — 17th among all running backs. Yeldon has plus-athleticism (74th percentile SPARQ score), high draft pedigree (early second-round pick in 2015), and low mileage on him for wear and tear (361 career carries in three seasons).

Actionable advice: Unless the owner is an Alabama fan, you can likely get Yeldon straight up for a future second-round pick. He had fantastic numbers on a per-touch basis, but his yearly totals should have him still flying under the radar.
