We’ve talked quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. Now let’s get into the tight end tiers. The position is perilously thin this year, so it may be optimal to prioritize the position in the early rounds of your draft. Once you get past the first three options, question marks and weekly inconsistencies really start to mount up.
Tier 1 – Rounds 2-3
This year, you essential have a Big 3 at tight end. Gronkowski is arguably the greatest of all time at the position, though injuries concerns with him are very real. Gronkowski hasn’t played all 16 games since 2011, and he’s missed significant time in two of the last five years. Kelce is likely to come off the board next in your drafts. The Chiefs’ tight end led the position in scoring and was one of just two tight ends to top 1,000 receiving yards. Things finally came together for Ertz last year, as the Eagles tight end racked up 74 catches and scored eight times.
