While the East offered several truly elite fantasy options for the 2016 season, the Conference USA’s West Division will take a bit more digging to uncover its resources. Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech headline the division, but some potentially overlooked players warrant a look. (Check out our full college preview here.)
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
How could we expect the Bulldogs to fabricate fantasy options without the services of QB Jeff Driskel and RB Kenneth Dixon? It begins with the forward pass. Offensive coordinator/quarterback coach Tony Peterson led Marshall QB Rakeem Cato into leading the nation in passing yards per game in 2012, Cody Sokol to finishing 20th in passing yards in 2014, and Driskel to a 10th-place finish in passing yards last season. We have very little actual game data with which to evaluate the Bulldogs’ expected starter, Ryan Higgins, and his tape suggests vertical limitations. His high school data would also imply he is unlikely to offer much on the ground, either.
