Duke Johnson is ready to shine
Recapping Week 4:
NAILED IT – Steve Smith wound up sitting due to his back injury, but Larry Fitzgerald delivered by finishing inside the top-20 (WR16 in PPR). … I also dissected the struggles of Peyton Manning and Matthew Stafford under pressure, and those struggles continued as they both posted another negative rating against pressure and finished 29th and 30th, respectively, among fantasy quarterbacks in Week 4.
BLEW IT – Go figure after noting several of the Raiders’ fantasy-relevant players, they went ahead and turned in a clunker in Chicago, save for Amari Cooper (WR16) and Michael Crabtree (WR32), the latter of whom finished fifth among all receivers in yards per route run. … A Week 4 breakout was in the forecast for rookie Ameer Abdullah, who disappointed with a RB39 finish despite no Joique Bell.
On to the key trends for Week 5:
Opportunity knocks for Duke Johnson
Duke Johnson is averaging just 3.2 yards on 31 carries this season and has logged more than eight rushes in a game only once. Entering the season, there wasn’t a ton of buzz surrounding the Browns rookie (at least in re-draft leagues) as he had missed a lot of practice time with a hamstring issue and then suffered a concussion in Cleveland’s third preseason game. At the time, the Browns also had Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West both still in the backfield picture.
